How To Keep Your Wedding Vows Plagiarism-Free

Writing vows can be a nerve-wracking process and are a task very easily pushed till the last minute, which makes you even more susceptible to writer’s block.

This procrastination, however, is as much a part of the writing process. Which means that if you’re so stuck that you have to turn to the internet for help, then you really must be desperate.

Here are a few tips that will help you write your vows without your partner ever finding out that you had to look it up -

Step 1: Narrate a Story

Every couple has their own epic love story. Find the moments that gave you yours. Tell your partner about the first time you fell in love with them or about the time when you realized that they were the one. Give them your perspective on all the little moments that you have shared. Use stories and anecdotes to allow them to see themselves the way you see them.

Step 2: Use Humor

Weddings have a way of turning on the waterworks. Cut through the emotional atmosphere with a cute one-liner, or maybe even open with a joke. It doesn’t even need to be a funny joke. So long as your partner reacts, you’re good to go. Make them laugh and cry and smile and sniffle and really put the human emotional range to the test.

Step 3: Talk about the Little Things

Life goes by in giant leaps, ticking off one milestone after another. At such a life-changing moment, take a minute to slow down and reminisce the lesser noticed moments that went by. The moments when time seemed to come to a standstill with just the two of you. Maybe it was the time when she laughed so loudly water came out of her nose, or when he passed you the tissue-box even before you sneezed. Sift through your memories like a photographer going through their photographs and pull out these little hidden gems. You’re bound to find something.

The trick to writing vows is to stop overthinking. Let the love for your significant other take over and allow the words to flow. Make it as personal and meaningful as you can. All the inspiration you seek is right in front of you, in the person you are about to marry.

As long as you speak from the heart, nothing else will matter because when it comes to an emotion as strong as love, it is unlikely that you will ever find the right words. Stop scrolling and start writing. It’s time to put pen to paper and to get started on those vows. You have the rest of your lives to put your words to actions and show them just how much you love them.
