So, you’ve got a shiny new rock weighing down your left-hand and you’re wondering what to do next?I’m writing a 4 part series about what to do after you get engaged! Follow this advice and get the hard part out of the way first! Then, you can move on to the fun stuff! We’ll talk about that in the next post! Well, as soon as the newness of the word fiance wears off and you finally stop staring at your finger every time you put your hand on the steering wheel--it’s time to get to work! The first stop...YOUR BUDGET!
I know it sounds dreadful, but the truth is you can’t start dreaming about your engagement photos, go dress shopping, or pick out flower arrangements until you know how much money you have to spend. If you’re ready to do that now (and if you want to get to the fun stuff, I’m guessing you are) I have a few little pointers for you.

Being a wedding photographer every time I meet new people and tell them what I do it opens up an opportunity for them to tell me about their wedding photography nightmares. I hear stories about late photographers, rainy first looks, and forgotten pictures…oh, the forgotten pictures. Forgotten pictures are my biggest fear as a photographer. I literally have nightmares about delivering a happy couple my hard work only to realize I forgot to take a picture that was very important to them. That’s why, when I work with couples I recommend that we create a list of the day’s “must have pictures” so we are both sure every memorable (and important) moment will be captured. If you are working on your own list of must-have pictures, here are 5 shots I HIGHLY recommend putting on your list!
Danielle and Zack planned a classy and beautiful ceremony at the Gaillardia clubhouse in north Oklahoma City. Although the couple had to move the ceremony indoors (thanks Oklahoma for sending that cold front and 30 mph winds in) it was so beautiful and cozy!
Alex and Blane planned a beautiful elopement in Eureka Springs! Although they were from Oklahoma City they wanted to do something unique for their elopement and planned a small ceremony at a victorian B&B tucked away in the mountains of Eureka Springs.
OOOOOOOOOOOOklahoma (I couldn’t resist...and sorry for getting that song stuck in your head for the next ten days)… You guys, Oklahoma is the BEST. I was born and raised here, but I’ve been around the country and even the world and I will boldly protest that out of everywhere Oklahoma has my heart. It’s a land of sweet grasses, rolling hills, rocky mountainscapes, crisp air, and some of the craziest weather I have ever seen. And, as a photographer, I can confidently say that Oklahoma, and specifically Oklahoma City, is one of the BEST location choices for your engagement photos.
If you’re sporting some shiny new bling and thinking about affordable engagement photos, I want to share with you the best engagement photo locations in Oklahoma City so you can have the pictures of your dreams. Here we go! Ask almost any bride to write down her top 10 priorities when planning her wedding and I can almost guarantee that somewhere among the first three you will find the word “photographer” (probably right under booze and making sure grandma gets home okay if we’re being completely honest). Wedding photos are important. They capture every detail of your big day from your beautiful dress, to the toothless grin of your 6-year-old flower girl. Pictures guarantee that your wedding day will not just be another date lost in time.
Privileged to work for this couple twice, the first time for engagement photos and then again last week for their wedding day! Taylor and Blake planned a beautiful wedding at the Redlands Darlington Chapel in El Reno which is just a quick drive from Oklahoma City!
When you’re planning a wedding, it’s easy to feel like you’re handing over your wallet and your left arm to everyone and their brother. Some of the costs are easy to plan for. You know you will need to pay for your dress, food, drinks, and quality wedding photography. However, it’s the unexpected costs that really get you down. Costs like the fee for hemming your dress because it was made too long or the additional charge for the special color of Gerber Daisies you requested from the florist.
Highschool Sweethearts say “I do” at the SPRINGS in Edmond | Oklahoma Wedding Photographer9/24/2018 The love these two have is the kind that instantly makes you feel relaxed. Coral and Caleb met in high school and officially became “C squared” on September 15 this year! I had a great time getting to know these 2 over the past year and I was honored that they chose me out of so many other local photographers to be a part of capturing their wedding day as their wedding photographer. Over the past year I had the privilege of photographing them for engagement, bridals and wedding day. I’ve spent a lot of up close and personal time with them and I can truly say they are perfect for each other and will have many MANY happy years ahead as Mr. and Mrs. Lopez!
I would bet you ten dollars and a pack of sugar-free spearmint gum that if you opened up your Facebook or Instagram right now you would see a wedding picture within the first 5 scrolls. That’s because brides absolutely LOVE showing off their wedding day photos to their friends, family, and casual acquaintances who stalk their newsfeed.
If you are a bride thinking about your own wedding photography I want you to know I believe you deserve the best pictures to share. However, I don't believe that you should have to overpay to do so. That's why I recommend choosing a basic photography package that includes only the necessities. |
